Superintendent Anna Shepherd announces Kristin Garrett is the new assistant principal for Allen Elementary School.
Superintendent Shepherd comments, “We’re excited for Kristin to take on this new role. Having worked with her I know she is a rock star and will only add to the momentum that Allen Elementary has going. I’m excited for this administrative team, the school and the students.”
Kristin has over two decades experience in education. With 20 years in classrooms at Allen Elementary and Prestonsburg Elementary, she has most recently served as an Instructional Consultant for the district. Kristin has earned her National Board Certification, mentored new teachers, been a member of and leader of various district level teams and committees.
Kristin says, “I’m excited to be an Eagle and to get to know the students, staff and community. One of my passions is helping students realize their strengths and talents because this is key in helping them learn easier and it allows them to enjoy more success in school. I’m going to fit right in with the passion and energy I have witnessed at AES to provide exceptional learning opportunities for all students. I’m excited to be a member of this unmatched, phenomenal team.”
Kristin loves to spend her free time with family enjoying the lake. She loves to travel, exploring new places. She loves reading and learning new things, especially American History. Kristin and her husband David live in Banner with their children Nick, UPIKE student, and Allison, sophomore at Prestonsburg High. They attend Ridgepoint Church.
Superintendent Shepherd closed by saying, “We know that each administrator at Allen Elementary is strong in different ways and we believe that this is what will make this team better for the students, staff and communities of Allen Elementary. The team complements each other and fits together enabling them to strengthen each other and support growth and getting better for students. I can’t wait to see the amazing things that will happen at AES this year and in the future!”
